Schulenburg Starts District With a Big Win Over Previously Unbeaten Kenedy
The Schulenburg football team snapped their threegame losing streak in a big way, downing previously unbeaten Kenedy 47-26 on the road in the district opener for both teams.
Schulenburg’s Daterrion Houston ran for a team-high 139 yards and two touchdowns. Jayse Janda caught six passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns for the Shorthorns.
Owen Brenek threw for 202 yards and three touchdowns. In addition to those two TDs to Janda, he also found Denver Carr for a 13--yard touchdown that sent the Horns into halftime with a 19-12 lead they would never lose.
Schulenburg is now 2-4 overall and 1-0 in district and host old rival Weimar this Friday at 7:30 p.m. Weimar is 3-1 and was off last week.
