RTC Beats Medina in Series to Win Area Title

The RTC baseball team poses after beating Medina in the 1A area round last week.
The Round Top-Carmine baseball team won Games 1 and 3 in their best-of-three area round playoff series over Medina last week to advance to the 1A regional semifinals.
That series will be another best-of-three series, this time against Spurger at Willis. Game 1 is Friday May 16 at 4:30 p.m. with Game 2 to follow 30 minutes after Game 1. If needed, Game 3 would be Saturday May 17 at 11 a.m. back in Willis.
Against Medina, the Cubs won the opener 4-2 thanks to a complete game three-hitter by William Neese. He struck out 13.
The Cubs (11-12) only had two hits themselves. Jake Smith hit an RBI single and Kash Wessels doubled, but RTC walked six times and took advantage of two Medina errors.
Medina won Game 2 in a slugfest 17-16. Facundo Cerda drove in four runs in that game for RTC.
In Game 3, RTC won the clincher 5-3 as Carter Marburger pitched 6.1 innings of two-run ball before William Neese closed out the game. William Neese also homered and Cody Wunderlich and Caden Tovey each had two hits.
