Record-Breaking Performances Continue for Leopard Swimmers
The La Grange High School Swim Team delivered another unforgettable weekend in Fort Worth, stacking up school records, finals appearances, and major time drops as the Leopards continued their momentum into the heart of the season.
Senior Eleanor Carey led off the team’s record-breaking streak, lowering her own 50yard freestyle school record— originally set early last season. Carey sprinted to a blazing 28.05, earning 7th place in the event and setting the tone for the rest of the team.
Freshman Lyria Hartley kept the excitement rolling by See breaking the 100-yard backstroke school record, a mark set by her classmate just over two weeks ago. Hartley powered to an impressive 1:16.28, securing a top-10 finish and reinforcing La Grange’s growing strength in the backstroke events.
Swimmers of the Meet honors went to sophomore Lillian Carey and freshman Lyria Hartley for their outstanding prelims performances. Lillian dropped a remarkable 3.69 seconds in her 100-yard freestyle to earn a finals spot, while Lyria cut a stunning 5.20 seconds from her 100-yard backstroke to qualify for finals as well. Their efforts highlighted the grit and competitive spirit fueling the Leopards’ continued success.

What I love most about this swim team is the bond they create among themselves. They become a family—checking to make sure their teammates are fueling their bodies correctly and being the first to celebrate each other’s accomplishments. That alone shows you the kind of young adults who are representing La Grange Swimming.
The Leopards head back to training with confidence as records continue to fall and swimmers build momentum toward the championship stretch of the season. With depth across events and breakthrough swims from both veterans and newcomers, La Grange is proving to be a team to watch. The Lepoards hit the road, traveling to El Campo Saturday, Dec. 13, and Monday, Dec. 15, to Brenham. Come out and support the swim team.
