When: 7 p.m. Friday Where: UMHB, Belton Records: La Grange is 5-5 overall. La Vega is 8-2.

Of Note: These two teams met in this round of the playoffs a year ago as Le Vega prevailed 56-2 and the Pirates would continue marching through the playoffs before falling to Carthage in the state title game. The Pirates returned eight offensive and six defensive starters this year from last year’s team ... La Vega junior quarterback Kourtney Parr is averaging 197 yards per game through the air with senior Jabarie Thornton (11 TD catches, 97 yards receiving per game) being his favorite target. 15 different Pirates have run the ball this season for an average of 168 yards per game ... La Vega’s two losses have come to Celina and Stephenville, the No. 1 and No. 2 ranked teams in Class 4A Division 1 ... The Leps are averaging 34 points per game but giving up an average of 37 points per game ... La Grange junior quarterback Eli Gillum has thrown for 1,400 yards and rushed for 1,100 this season but he did leave last week’s game with an injury. Casen Conrad leads the Leps defense in tackles with 67. Chris Supak and Trey Broussard have 62 tackles each. The Leps are a rather young team with two senior starters on offensive and two senior starters on defense.
