Local Youth Athletes Play in Banana Ball Tournament in Rosenberg
Several local youth baseball players competed in a the Banana Bash Tournament in Rosenberg Sept. 27-28. The tournament was held using the Savannah Bananas baseball rules, which include rewarding trick plays and encouraging creativity during play. The local team, The LG Fire, wore colorful uniforms, some wore cowboy hats or fireman hats. “We went 0-4 but the kids had a blast,” said Manager Joey Smidovec of La Grange. Joey’s son Krugher juggled the ball between his legs as part of his windup when pitching. Local players who participated included: Landon Wagner, Julius Williams, MJ Papalo, Luke Shaw, Cayden Sanchez, Levi Hayne, River Roberts, Rhett Smith, Kellen Bishop, Daniel Hromadka and Krugher Smidovec. Assistant coaches were Stephen Hoehne and Michael Bishop.
