LG Soccer Gets First Ever Win Over Lady Buffs; Leps Win 2-0

The La Grange Lady Leps Varsity Soccer team achieved a milestone that has been 15+ years in the making, defeating the Giddings Lady Buffs for the first time since the Lady Leps program’s inception.

The hard-fought victcny was decided in a dramatic penalty kick shootout after both teams battled to a 0-0 stalemate through regulation. With the win, the Lady Leps improved its district record to 6-1.

With both teams entering the game at Buffalo Stadium owning 5-1 district records, the contest was certain to be a good one. During the match, La Grange maintained a slight edge in offensive pressure, outshooting the Lady Buffs 9-7, with six of its shots on target compared to Giddings’ four. However, neither side could find the back of the net during the initial 80 minutes of play.

Tension peaked during penalty kicks. Giddings gained an early 1-0 advantage after its goalkeeper blocked the Lady Leps’ opening attempt. Refusing to buckle under pressure, La Grange responded with four consecutive successful strikes by Raylee Gutierrez, Trinity Yanis, Kayden Yanis and Kaylee Soto.
