LG Little League Finishes $30,000 in Field Work
La Grange Little League (LGLL) completed $30,000 in improvements to local baseball fields last week.
The work involved tilling, grading and edging all of the infields. Contractors then added premium infield mix and Pro’s Choice Infield conditioner. LGLL hired the company CT Fieldscapes of McQueeney perform the work. The improvements were made at all the fields in La Grange used by LGLL: two at Kruschel Park, two at the Fairgrounds and two at White Rock Park.
“This is something we need to do every couple of years to keep the fields safe for the kids and to maintain a good quality of play,” said LGLL president Jake Kellen. “None of this would be possible without the continued generosity of our community sponsors, and we’re incredibly thankful for their support.”
Kellen said LGLL has a few more projects in the works. They’re in the process of purchasing a new scoreboard thanks to a generous donation from a former La Grange resident who now lives in Midland. They also have plans to upgrade the fencing and batting cage at White Rock Park.
Kellen said LGLL registered 320 youth athletes this spring, which he said is the most since he’s been involved with the league.
“LGLL is healthy, growing, and we’re very excited about what’s ahead,” Kellen said.
