Swimmer of the Meet
Swimmer of the Meet honors went to Rogan Mihatsch, who delivered one of the most impressive time drops of the day. Rogan cut a remarkable 9.60 seconds from his 200 Individual Medley, showcasing outstanding improvement, endurance, and racing grit. His performance played a key role in La Grange’s strong overall finish at the Invitational.
Coach’s Perspective Head Coach Gretchen Ledwik praised the team’s resilience and toughness, especially given the challenges leading into the meet.
“I couldn’t be prouder of this group,” said Coach Ledwik. “We were going up against much larger 5A and 6A programs, and our team had only been able to practice four times in the last two weeks. On top of that, most of our swimmers were just getting over being sick. For them to step up, race hard, and finish as the highest-placing 4A school shows their heart, their work ethic, and their commitment to each other.”
Looking Ahead
The Leopards now turn their focus to the TISCA 4A and Under Invitational in San Antonio, held November 21–22, marking the team’s first two-day meet of the season. Two-day meets present unique challenges for athletes, including longer competition schedules, early morning prelim sessions, managing recovery between events, and maintaining energy and focus across consecutive days. With several swimmers still recovering from recent illnesses and limited practice time, the meet will test the team’s endurance, depth, and mental toughness. Coach Ledwik is confident that the Leopards’ strong work ethic and resilience will carry them into another successful weekend of racing.
