La Grange High School hosted a 7-on-7 football state qualifying tournament Saturday at Leopard Stadium. Sixteen teams competed with two state berths on the line. Austin LBJ defeated Lago Vista 34-7 to win one of those berths. Jarrell defeated La Grange 21-6 to win the other berth. In pool play, the Leps beat Gonzales and Katy Freeman but lost to Hamshire-Fannett. 7-on-7 is a fast-paced passing-only, non-tackle version of football, featuring players who will be on varsity in the fall. The state 7-on-7 tournament is June 26-28 in College Station.
