Leopard Boys Snag Second at Rockdale Soccer Tournament

The La Grange boys soccer team had a strong showing at the Rockdale Tournament last week, marching all the way to the title match before falling to Hudson.

The Leopards defeated Lago Vista to start the tournament Thursday 2-1 with the first goal coming from Aaron Torres on an assist from Raul Marcena. The game’s final goal came with under 30 seconds left when Jeffrey Cabrera crossed the ball to Aldo Hernandez, who headed it in for the game winner.

Friday the Leps beat Cameron 4-1 with goals by Gio Luna, Jeffrey Cabrera, Dilan Baron and Aaron Torres. Assists in that game came from Adrian Meneses, Raul Mancera, Cabrera and Monjaras. Later in the day the Leps lost to Hudson 2-0.

In Saturday’s championship bracket semifinals, the Leps beat Hempstead 1-0 with the goal coming from Eli Rios, but then La Grange lost to Hudson in the title match on penalty kicks despite a header in regulation from Gio Luna off a corner from Aldo Hernandez.
