The La Grange girls basketball team just keeps dominating.

The Lady Leps beat Giddings at home Tuesday 67-32 to improve to 26-8 overall and 8-0 in district.

Campbell Cooper led the way Tuesday for La Grange with 21 points. Kylie Trlicek scored 12, Macie Collier 11, Ashtyn Smith six, Hannah Gross five, London Broussard scored four, Avery Griffin three, Gaby Hollek three and Ella Nygren two.

Hill scored 15 to lead Giddings.

The game was close early but La Grange broke things open by outscoring Giddings 18-4 in the second quarter.

“We had to get it together defensively, but once we found the middle of the zone we forced some turnovers. We started playing our game,” said head coach Ryan O’Neal. “Our game is pressure, forcing turnovers, getting out and running, and once we started to do that things came together.”

Tuesday’s victory leaves the Lady Leps just two wins away from a perfect run through district play.

“It’s been a lot of effort and hard work for this team,” Macie Collier said. “And with a new coach, everybody had to come out, start fresh and work for their spot, and I feel like everyone has done that, and we’ve worked together really well.”

The Lady Leps play at Caldwell Friday and then host Navasota (which they just edged by two points on the road three weeks ago) in the regular season finale Tuesday Feb. 10.

“There’s been a lot of growth from this group. We’ve really come together defensively and with the way we move the ball it would be a lot of fun to finish it off (with a district title),” O’Neal said.
