La Grange and Flatonia Both Dominate in Their Softball Playoff Openers
The La Grange softball team crushed Almeda Crawford in the first round of the 4A playoffs Friday 10-0.
Freshman Brooke Ulrich pitched a complete game three-hitter with 10 strikeouts.
Senior Melissa Gonzales hit a tworun homer. Freshman Ashtyn Smith hit two doubles and freshman Iylah King had two hits, including a triple and scored two runs. Sophomore Kylin Brawley drove in two runs and freshman Brion Williams hit a triple.
The Lady Leps (18-8) now advance to face Gatesville (22-13) in the area round.
Details of that series were not finalized at press time.
Flatonia Girls Win 8-1 The Flatonia Lady Bulldogs defeated Skidmore-Tynan 8-1 in the Bi-District round of the softball playoffs Friday. The Lady Bulldogs will now play Charlotte in the next round.
That will be a best-of-three series at Marion High School.
Game 1- Thursday May 1st at 5 p.m.
Game 2- Saturday May 3rd at 10 a.m.
Game 3- Saturday May 3rd, Noon ( if needed) In Friday’s game, Flatonia’s Jalee Trussell hit a grand slam, drove in six runs, and also pitched a complete game four hitter with nine-strikeouts.
Emma Kosler had four hits, including two doubles.
