Janacek Continues Rewriting School Swim Record Book
One last test before Christmas. One last chance to race under the lights before the holiday break. The La Grange Leopards Swim Team hit the road Monday evening to take on Brenham and Huntsville— both 5A schools—closing out the semester against biggerschool competition and proving once again that heart and hard work travel well.
The night was filled with personal bests, unexpected victories, and another chapter added to the Leopards’ growing record book.
Performance
Sophomore Adysen Janacek made history Monday night, becoming the first female swimmer in program history to have her name attached to eight school records. Janacek broke the long-standing 100-yard breaststroke record that had stood since 2022, touching the wall in a new school-record time of 1:23.73. The swim capped off another dominant performance from the sophomore and added to what has already been a standout season.
Swimmers of the Meet
Swimmers of the Meet honors went to freshman Van Huette and junior Haygan Mings, both of whom delivered major time drops. Huette took 3.71 seconds off his 200yard freestyle, while Mings shaved two seconds off both his 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard freestyle—huge gains at this point in the season.

“There were a few races that didn’t look like wins on paper, but our kids went out and took them,” Ledwik said. “They competed fearlessly and earned every one of those victories.”
Ledwik also praised sophomore Adysen Janacek for her work ethic and commitment to the program.
“Adysen is one of my hardest-working swimmers. She’s at every practice and has put in the time to earn her place on the record board,” Ledwik said. “Her hard work is paying off.”
As the Leopards head into a much-needed Christmas break to give their bodies time to rest and recover, they’ll be back in the pool in January for the final push toward the district meet—carrying confidence, momentum, and a little extra belief that no race is decided until the wall is touched.
