It’s an All-Fayette County Regional Baseball Final!

An amazing postseason for Fayette County baseball teams has gotten even more exciting.

County neighbors Fayetteville and Round Top-Carmine will face off against one another for the Region IV-1A title and a berth in the state semifinals. Both the Lions (14-3) and the Cubs (13-12) won their respective regional semifinal series last week, setting up this marquee matchup.

They will play one another in a best-of-three series at Firemen’s Park in Brenham. Game 1 is Thursday May 22 at 5 p.m. Game 2 will follow Thursday, 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game 1. If necessary, a Game 3 would be held Saturday May 24 at 2 p.m. back in Brenham.

The Cubs marched to the regional final (only the second time in school history they have gotten this far) by sweeping Spurger in the regional semis 13-3 and 15-4 last week.

In that 13-3 victory, William Neese pitched a complete game one-hitter for the Cubs, striking out eight. Kash Wessels has two hits, including a home run. Miles Neese had two hits, Carter Marburger drove in three runs and Facundo Cerda scored three runs.

In RTC’s 15-4 victory, pitchers William Neese and Carter Marburger combined on a three-hitter. Miles Neese had two hits, including a double, and drove in five. William Neese doubled and scored four runs. Carter Marburger hit a double and drove in two.

Meanwhile, Fayetteville knocked off Knippa 19-2 in their one-game regional semifinal series Saturday.

Kandon Kaspar was twofor- three with a homer for the Lions and scored three runs. Lawson Fritsch had two hits, including a double and drove in three runs. Jack Schley had two hits and scored three runs. Kole Schmitt had two hits, including a triple, and drove in three runs.

Chance Konvicka pitched three innings for the Lions, striking out six and allowing two runs (one earned). Kole Schmitt pitched two hitless innings, striking out four. Dylan Henneke pitched one hitless inning, striking out two.
