For the second consecutive week the Schulenburg football team lost an overtime game.

Two weeks ago it was an overtime loss to Rogers.

Friday the Shorthorns lost 68-66 in double overtime to Burton.

The difference in the game was Burton’s ability to punch in a two point conversion by quarterback Kayden Patterson in double overtime, while Schulenburg’s conversion run came up short.

Shorthorn quarterback Owen Brenek threw for 336 yards and six touchdowns, and he also ran for a teamhigh 157 yards and two touchdowns, but it was not enough.

Burton rolled up 593 total yards, including 411 on the ground.

Schulenburg’s Jayse Janda caught three touchdown passes, Denver Carr snagged two and Nick Goode caught one touchdown.

DaTerrion Houston and Tavondrick Ellison also ran for touchdowns for the Shorthorns.

Schulenburg tries to snap their two-game losing streak this Friday when they play at undefeated Brazos.
