Of Note: La Grange has its home opener Friday against defending state 3A champ Columbus. The Cardinals are still ranked No. 1 in the state in their division despite losing 28-21 to Cuero last week. The Cardinals graduated five players last year who went on to play D-I football, but still have a ton of talent. TCU-bound QB Adam Schobel is gone after throwing for 11,196 yards in his Cardinals career but in his place is his younger brother Jack ... The Leps are coming off a impressive 41-14 win over Cameron last week. Klayton Michalka ran for 101 yards and quarterback Eli Gillum was 13 of 15 passing and ran for two touchdowns and threw for two more.

Last meeting: Last season Columbus beat La Grange 63-21 as QB Adam Schobel was 19 of 22 passing for 230 yards and four touchdowns. LG’’s Clayton Cooper ran for 106 yards and two TDs.
