Flatonia Falls to Mason In the State Quarterfinals

The last Fayette County girls basketball team that was still alive in the playoffs lost Thursday night in the state quarterfinals. The Flatonia girls lost to Mason 42-29 in Georgetown. It was the second consecutive year that the Lady Bulldogs made it this far.

Summer Sodek scored 18 points for Flatonia with 11 rebounds and four steals. Abbie Uzzell scored five and had six rebounds. Kalen Scott scored three and had seven rebounds. Dani Vinklarek scored two and Jalee Trussell one.

The Flatonia girls end their season with a 35-4 record. Mason improves to 39-1 and will play in the state semifinals. The game ends the high school career of Flatonia’s Sodek, who will go down as one of the best county basketball players ever. She’s now headed to play ball at Texas Women’s University.
