Flatonia Defeats Freer for Area Title

The Flatonia Bulldog baseball team defeated the Freer Buckaroos to win their Area playoff series.
The Dogs swept a doubleheader last Friday by 11-2 and 11-1 scores. This series was played at Sinton HS.
In game one Flatonia was led by Titan Targac on the hill. He pitched six scoreless innings. He also gave up no hits over those six innings. He finished with three walks & 9 K’s.
Henri Vincik pitched the final inning for Flatonia.
Targac had two hits, one of which was a double. He also knocked in three RBIs.
Caysen Perez hit two singles vs the Buckaroos.
Other Dogs getting hits included: Beck Zimmerman, Tripp Bowling, Udi Manzano, & Diego Ramirez. Bowling’s knocked in two runs.
In game two Zimmerman pitched a fine ballgame. He gave up only one run on two hits. He also had four walks & 12 K’s.
Zimmerman also led the offense vs the Bukaroos. He had three hits, two RBI’s, and scored three runs.
Yandel Manzano had two singles in game two. Targac had a three RBI triple. A RBI triple was also hit by Vincik. Blake Kessler had the last Flatonia hit.
These two wins over Freer allowed the Bulldogs to advance to the Regional Semifinals this coming weekend.
Flatonia will take on the Burton Panthers this coming week in a best of three series that will be played at Bastrop HS.
Game one will be on Thursday, May 15 at 6:30 pm.
Game two will be on Friday, May 16 at 6:30 pm.
If necessary, game three will be played on Saturday, May 17 at 2:00 pm.
