Flatonia Baseball Falls to Burton in the 3rd Round

The Flatonia Bulldog baseball team bowed out of the 2025 UIL Class 2A Division 2 Playoffs to the Burton Panthers in the Regional Semifinal round.

This three game series was played at Bastrop HS.

The Dogs won Game One Thursday 6-4. Burton answered back with a 14-4 victory in Game Two on Friday. Game three on Saturday saw the Panthers defeat the Bulldogs 7-2 to advance to the Regional Final.

The Bulldogs could only plate two runs on five hits in the decisive game three vs Burton.

Beck Zimmerman scored the two Flatonia runs after getting on base with two hits.

Tripp Bowling, Diego Ramirez, & Blake Kessler had the other Flatonia hits.

Kessler started on the mound for the Dogs. He was relieved by Kullen Kutac and Beck Zimmerman.

In their game one victory Flatonia their six runs on ten base hits.

Henri Vincik led the offense with three hits, two RBIs, & two runs. Titan Targac and Tripp Bowling each hit triples among their two hits apiece. They both also had one RBI.

Singles were also hit by Yandel Manzano, Ramirez, and Zimmerman.

Targac pitched a gem of a game on the mound. He gave up zero earned runs on just two hits, three walks, and had twelve K’s.

Game Two saw the Dogs struggle defensively and commit ten errors and give up fourteen runs.

Pitchers for Flatonia in game two included: Zimmerman, Ramirez, Vincik, Kessler, Yandel Manzano and Zayden Perez.

Targac had two hits with two RBI. Zimmerman hit a RBI triple. Yandel Manzano ripped a double.

Singles were also hit by Bowling, Ramirez and Kessler.

The Bulldogs finished the 2025 season with a 1911-1 overall record.

All the heart and soul that you played with and exhibited in way you guys carried yourselves will be surely missed,” said head coach Shawn Bruns. “The Bulldog baseball team would like to thank their parents, family, and the entire Flatonia community for all the support that you all gave this team the entire season.
