The Fayetteville volleyball team is state-ranked and has gotten off to 18-9 record this season.

The Lady Lions are a young team, but get strong leadership from the team’s lone senior, Devynn Moeckel, who is among the team leaders in digs.

“She’s been with us for four years now. She’s stepped up and done some different roles for us this year,” said Fayetteville head volleyball coach Marcus Sodek, who used Moeckel as the team’s setter Tuesday because of the illness of another player and she responded with 31 assists. “She’s proven to be versatile and has a great attitude. That’s all you can ask for.”

We’re proud to honor Devynn Moeckel as this week’s Fayette County Athlete of the Week. Here’s our interview with her.
