Fayetteville Sr. Shortstop Easton Jaeger Named the Championship Game MVP
After the conclusion of Saturday’s title game, Fayetteville senior shortstop Easton Jaeger was announced as the championship game MVP.
He reached base all four times he came to bat Saturday (three hits and also reached on an error) with two RBIs, a run scored and several nice defensive plays.
“It’s not the MVP award, it is the (championship) medal itself, that’s all I’ve wanted since I was four years old,” Easton said. “The MVP just shows that my hard work paid off, and I helped my team win.”
“I’ve been here (at state) a couple of times, usually nervous. Today there were no nerves. I was feeling good, trying to put the ball in play and make good solid contact and make the routine plays.”
Clint Jaeger was a proud head coach, and a proud father, watching his son win the MVP in what was the senior’s final high school game.
“He’s always been a really, really good player and he showed it all today,” Clint said of his son. – Jeff Wick
