The Fayetteville girls basketball team had no trouble winning its first round playoff game Tuesday, bashing Runge 54-27 in Flatonia.

The Lady Lions improved to 19-14 overall with the win and now advance to face D’Hanis Friday at 8 p.m. at Seguin’s Goldie Harris Gym.

Tuesday Scotti Beseda scored 22 for the Lady Lions and Shea Sladek and Cambree Denham each scored 10. Lainey Gromaski and Devynn Moeckel each scored four, and Paige Jurecka and Saige Gasaway scored two. Jurecka had 10 rebounds. Denham has seven assists and six steals.

Lions to Break District Title Deadlock

The Fayetteville boys basketball team defeated Round Top-Carmine 94-36 in the regular season finale for both teams. The Lions improved to 26-6 with the win and they are tied for the district title with Richards.
