Fayette County Fair Commercial Heifer Show and Sale Held

The Fayette County Fair Commercial Heifer Show and Sale took place on Aug. 22 and 23.

Seventy-four Fayette County 4-H and FFA members competed in the following competitions: Record book/Interview, Herdsman Quiz, and Salesmanship Contest.

A total of 131 high-quality bred heifers were exhibited and sold for a total of $788,700 which is about $6,000 per head average, both were records for this event. $14,575 was awarded in premium money to top place heifers and educational event winners.

Junior Herdsman Quiz, sponsor Willie Joe’s Processing, Representative Paddy Magliolo, 1st place-Bowen Williams, 2nd place-Rilan Karisch, and 3rd place-Canaan Beseda.

Intermediate Herdsman Quiz, sponsor Colorado Valley ICA, Representative Steve Janda, 1st place-Crockett Guenther, 2nd place-Tatum Fritsch, and 3rd place-Holden Holub.

Senior Herdsman Quiz, sponsor Robert and April Kuck, Representative Laura Surman, 1st place- Reagan Williams, 2nd place-Eleanor Carey, 3rd place-Tori Newton.

Junior Recordbook/Interview, sponsor La Grange Farm and Ranch, representative Morgan Dornak, 1st place Rilan Karisch, 2nd place-Harper Pittman, and 3rd place-Hudson Holub.

The Grand Champion Pen of 2 Heifers was exhibited by Madison Markwardt and the buckle sponsor was Fayette County Vet Clinic.

The Reserve Champion Pen of 2 was exhibited by Tate Fritsch and the buckle sponsor was Colorado Valley ICA.

The Grand Champion Pen of 1 Heifer was exhibited by Kaylyn Beseda and Carmine State Bank was the buckle sponsor. The Reserve Champion Pen of 1 Heifer was exhibited by Canaan Beseda and the buckle sponsor was Steve Hillhouse.

The Grand Champion Halter Heifer was exhibited by Luke Behnke and the buckle sponsor was Joost Farms. The Reserve Champion Halter Heifer was exhibited by Rheagan Karisch and the buckle sponsor was Capital Farm Credit.
