Equestrian Team with Fayette/Lee Kids Shines

The Texas Tornadoes of Lee County Equestrian Drill Teams competed at the State Finals in Athens on June 2728.

There are several riders from Fayette County that ride and compete on the team.

The team competed in The Drill of the Pines in Nacogdoches on March 2 as well as The Central Texas competition in College Station on April 12. There were 14 teams competing at the State Finals in Athens. The Texas Tornadoes advanced team placed third out of the 14 teams, securing their spot as the High Point Champions.

The Texas Tornadoes youth Team, The Twisters, placed fourth out of seven teams in the High Point Division.

They also have a division for beginner Riders called the Developing Drill with six riders that competed.

For the one day competitions, the Tornadoes rode nine times total and for the finals the team rode 13 times. They are 28 Riders strong.

For 2025, the youth ages range from 4 to 18 The coaches for the Tornadoes are Garry and Angela Turner and Amber Turnipseed The Texas Tornadoes of Lee County, a 501(c)3 organization is always looking for gentle, well trained horses for our kiddos to ride.
