Down But Not Out, Shorthorns Rally to Beat Kenedy

After losing the opener of their best-of-three playoff series 5-4 Thursday to Kenedy, the Schulenburg baseball team rallied to win Game 2 by a 7-1 score and then clinched the bi-district title with a 6-3 win Friday.

In the series opener the Shorthorns got two hits each from Reid Janda and Brycen Schramek and led 4-1 at one point, but Kenedy rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh to win.

In Game 2, Schramek pitched a complete game sixhitter to lead the Shorthorns to victory. Conner Lichnovsky, Aaron Janecek and Reid Janda all had two hits in that victory. Reid Janda drove in three runs and Ian Reeves hit a double.

In the series finale Aaron Janecek pitched a complete game eight-hitter. Reeves hit a pair of doubles and drove in two. Cooper Demel and Zane Brenek each had two hits.

The Shorthorns (14-12) now advance to face Premont in the next round, times and location to be determined
