Diamond Roundup: Zimmerman Throws No-Hitter

Leps Baseball

Flatonia Baseball The Flatonia baseball team beat Bloomington 14-0 Friday as Beck Zimmerman threw a five-inning no-hitter with 14 strikeouts. Titan Targac had three hits, including a double and drove in three. Yandel Manzano had two hits, including a triple and drove in three runs. Tripp Bowling had two hits and Caysen Perez hit a double. The Bulldogs are now 11-5 overall and 6-1 in district play.

The La Grange baseball team lost at Caldwell Friday 3-0 as the Leps were no-hit by Colby Maresh. Colt Jobb pitched five innings of threerun ball for La Grange and Braxton Dahse hurled one scoreless inning of relief. The Leps are 8-9 overall and 2-3 in district and host Caldwell Tuesday at 7 p.m.

LG Softball

The La Grange softball team improved to 14-8 overall and 5-2 in district with a 7-0 win at Caldwell Friday. Brooke Ulrich had two hits, three RBIs and pitched five innings of shutout ball for the Lady Leps. She was relieved by Iylah King, who tossed two scoreless innings. King also had two hits. Landri Hernandez had two hits and scored twice. Melissa Gonzales had two hits, including a double. Madi Adams also doubled. The Lady Leps host Caldwell Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Lions Baseball

The Fayetteville baseball team beat Brazos Valley Home School 14-1 Friday. Lawson Fritsch had three hits, including two doubles and drove in four runs. Easton Jaeger had three hits, a double, and drove in five runs. Kandon Kaspar had two hits and Jack Schley drove in two runs. Kaspar and Kole Schmitt combined on the pitching effort for the Lions, each allowing just one hit. Fayetteville is now 7-2 overall.

Flatonia Softball

The Flatonia softball team stomped Bloomington 16-0 Friday to improve to 4-4 in district play. Allie Uzzell had three hits, including a double and triple, and drove in seven runs. Katie Templeton had two hits and drove in three runs. Brynlee Zimmerman and Sadie Noska also had two hits each.

Jalee Trussell pitched a complete game one-hitter with six strikeouts. The game was halted after three innings because of the mercy rule.

SHS Softball

The Schulenburg softball team (2-17-1) lost to Ganado 18-0 Friday. Brenley Bujnoch pitched a complete game for the Lady Horns.

Horns Baseball

The Schulenburg baseball team lost to Ganado 6-3 Friday to fall to 6-10 overall and 3-4 in district play. Cooper Demel had two hits and Connor Lichnovsky had two runs for the Shorthorns. Lichnovsky and Owen Brenek combined on the pitching effort for Schulenburg. Brenek tossed three innings of one-run relief.

RTC Baseball

The Round Top-Carmine baseball team lost to Iola Friday 12-0. Four Cubs combined on the pitching effort – Miles Neese, Carter Marburger, Cody Wunderlich and Facundo Cerda. The Cubs dropped to 3-10 this season with the loss.
