Brenek and Schramek Pitch Gems as ‘Horns Sweep Premont

The Schulenburg baseball team (16-12) swept their 2A area round playoff series against Premont 5-1 and 10-0 last week.

The victories vault the Shorthorns into the regional semifinals where they will face Johnson City in a onegamer Friday May 16 at 7 p.m. at Seguin High School.

In Game 1 of the series against Premont Schulenburg won 5-1 as Owen Brenek pitched a complete game three-hitter with 10 strikeouts. Tyson Wagner hit a double and drove in two. Zane Brenek, Brycen Schramek and Connor Lichnovsky also had hits for the Shorthorns.

In the 10-0 win in Game 2, Schramek pitched a complete game one-hitter with 10 strikeouts. He also hit a double. Tyson Wagner had three hits and drove in five runs. Jayse Janda drove in two.
