Boys Hoops Playoffs to Begin
The La Grange boys basketball team (23-10) opens the 4A playoffs with a first round game against Katy Freeman (18-14) Monday at 7 p.m. in Brenham. The winner of that game advances to face the Salado/Lorena winner. The Leps are trying to win their first playoff boys basketball game since 2022. The La Grange boys lost to Brookshire in overtime in the first round last year.
The Fayetteville boys basketball team (which is the No. 1 seed out of District 29-1A) opens the playoffs Tuesday Feb. 24 at 6 p.m. in Giddings against Waelder. The Lions are 26-6 overall. Waelder is 8-21.
Playoff Doubleheader for Horns/Dogs
The District 28-2A champion Schulenburg boys (23-9) open the playoffs at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday against Rosebud-Lott (18-13) in Caldwell. That’s the first half of a playoff doubleheader. The Flatonia boys (10-17) then play against Granger (21-10) in Caldwell about 7 p.m. (after the Horns game).
RTC in Playoffs for First Time in 12 Years
The Round Top-Carmine boys basketball team will make its first postseason appearance in 12 years as the Cubs (14-16) face Moulton (29-4) Monday in Weimar. To get into the postseason RTC had to face Calvert in a tiebreaker for the final 29-1A playoff spot – and the Cubs prevailed 45-40 in overtime last week.
