After Bye Week, Leps Begin Second Half of the Regular Season Friday

Here at the halfway mark of the regular season, what do we know about the Leps and 11-4A as district play is about to start?

La Grange has a 3-2 record, and they were 4-1 at this time a year ago. The only difference is that last year’s Leps beat Navasota, and this year’s Leps fell to Navasota 65-27 last time out.

The Leps have proved to be an explosive offensive team so far in 2025 with junior quarterback Eli Gillum leading the Leps in passing and rushing yardage. Fellow junior Dillan Johnson has emerged as maybe the toughest player to bring down in the entire district, and has been a huge weapon for the Leps running the football and catching it. On defense the Leps had been looking better and better until the Navasota game, but that may have come at a good time to fix some things (especially versus the pass) before district.

In 11-4A it looks like undefeated Sealy will be the team to beat, with Bellville, Madisonville and La Grange battling for seeding among the other three playoffs spots.

Getting third or higher in the district standings is very important this season because a first round postseason date with state title contender Waco La Vega awaits the team that finishes 4th, that makes this Friday’s game at Madisonville (which beat the Leps 56-42 last season) one of the most important of the season for the Leps.
