Speed Family Reunion Held in Muldoon

M The 76th annual Speed Family Reunion was held on the second Saturday in June with 29 family members in attendance. It was a great day with lots of visiting and eating going on at the Muldoon Mercantile, along with a bunch of fun door prizes.

Czech Heritage Society Awards Scholarship

The Czech Heritage Society of Texas (CHS) is proud to announce Dallyn Pesek from Shiner as the recipient of the 2025 Victor Peter Memorial Scholarship. She is a graduate of St. Paul High School and will attend The University of Texas at Austin this Fall majoring in biology with the intent of attending medical school and becoming a physician. She plans to work in a rural area like Shiner so she can give back to underserved medical areas while continuing to enjoy the rich traditions of living in a Czech community.

Celebrate July 4 in Round Top

The 175th Fourth of July Celebration kicks-off at 10 a.m. July 4th in Round Top. The parade will start with the firing of the cannon at 10:30 a.m. Following the parade, the Rifle Hall has barbecue, music and fun for the whole family from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Finish your day with fireworks at The Compound. Gates open at 5 p.m.

Wendish Heritage Society Scholarship Deadline Nears

The Texas Wendish Heritage Society scholarship program is available to students of Wendish descent and encourages students to learn more about their Wendish Heritage. The 2025-2026 scholarship applications are available online at texaswendish.

Free Concert at Ross Gallery

Arts for Rural Texas (ARTS) presents a great evening of live music with George Ensle at the Ross Gallery on Fayetteville’s town square. This free concert will be held Saturday, June 21 at 6:30 p.m.
