News M ULDOON 4th of July Muldoon was very quiet for the Fourth of July for the first time in many years with the parade and celebration being canceled. The weather for the 4th of July was very nice with cloud cover all day and that kept the temperatures down.

NRA Foundation Awards Grants to Fayette County Sheriff’s Office

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek announced that the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a grant from the National Rifle Association and Friends of NRA in the amount of $2,801. The money received from the grant was used to fund the purchase of a shooting star plate target, as well as service ammunition to be used for enhanced firearms training for Sheriff’s Deputies, Reserve Deputies and Corrections Personnel.

Record Takes Epic Trip to France

The Fayette County Record and Allyson Hoffmann (the Gallery and Marketing Manager for Arts for Rural Texas) went on an adventure to France recently. They started off in Paris and visited the Palace of Versailles (lower right), The Louvre (lower left with the Record checking out the Mona Lisa), Notre Dame, and the Eiffel Tower. Then, they headed to southern France to stay at Chateau Marouatte (far left), a Medieval 12th century castle, for a painting retreat. Here’s one of Hoffmann’s works she painted there, left.

‘Much Ado About Nothing’ This Weekend

This marks the 25th summer for Camp Shakespeare, a program dedicated to exploring Shakespeare through performance for kids 11-16 years old. Three La Grange kids appear in this weekend’s production of “Much Ado About Nothing,” (Holden Mikulin, Deacon Wick and Maddox Wick).

Second Armed Forces Appreciation Dinner and Dance Set

The second annual Armed Forces Appreciation Dinner and Dance is scheduled to be held on Saturday, September 13. This event is to be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in La Grange, which is located at 109. S. Brown Street. The doors will open at 3 p.m. with the ceremony starting at 4 p.m. This event is organized by the area veteran organizations, with the support of many sponsors. All veterans and their spouses are invited to attend, as well as all supporters of the veterans. All citizens are welcome. Tickets are $20 for attendance. Those attending will experience a program, great fellowship, a meal, games, a silent auction plus other activity. Tickets can be purchased from any members of the American Legion Post 94, Legion Post 102, VFW Post 5254, VVA Post 870.
