Stray Gathering Cowboy Church Hosting Sunday Vittles Aug. 31

The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church is gearing up once again to have “Sunday Vittles” on Sunday, Aug. 31. They are hosting Jackie Cox as their special guest for the day. Jackie will be bringing his music and the word for that Sunday. He is an award-winning singer/ songwriter. Here is a chance to enjoy some wonderful music, hear a great sermon and then dig into some delicious food. It is a pot luck dinner, so bring along your favorite dish to share and then get a chance to sample everyone else’s dishes to see what you might like to try back home yourself. Fellowship on Sunday mornings begins at 9:30 a.m. with coffee and sweet treats followed by worship at 10 a.m.

Senior Connections Hosting Fan Drive Aug. 28

At Senior Connections, our mission is simple yet profound: to enhance the quality of life for seniors in Fayette and Lavaca counties. We are committed to fostering community and camaraderie, and we invite all individuals aged 55 and up to join our vibrant gatherings. Membership is entirely free, and our meals are nothing short of delightful.

As Phase I construction of the Fayetteville Community Center & Performance Theater gets closer to completion, many of the details involved in rebuilding an historic structure are taking shape. The iconic pickets that adorned the exterior of the original E.J. Knesek Building can be seen being saved by workers (on the left), sanded and reinstalled on the façade (center), and being primed for final painting (on the right).

Round Top Festival Institute Seeks Volunteers & Docents

Ever wonder who has David Guion’s cowboy hat, where to find the label on an original piece of Stickley furniture or who did all the wonderful woodwork at Festival Hill? The Round Top Festival Institute has an amazing story to tell. Applications are now being accepted for the Fall Volunteer and Docent Program beginning Wednesday, September 30, on the historic Festival Hill campus in Round Top.
Lamar Lentz, Library and Museum Collections Curator and Pat Johnson, Associate Curator of Collections register the Toscanini Chairs into the Institute’s collection. Mr. Lentz will lead the Docent Program.

KJZT St. Anne’s Society Meets

The meeting of the KJZT St. Anne’s Society No. 10 was called to order at 1 p.m. on Aug. 19 at St John’s Hall. President Mary Jane Toddy opened the meeting with prayers for all living members and their families and led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. There were 10 members present. Secretary Rose Rohde read the minutes from the previous meeting, Vice President Helen Wied reported cards sent and received, and Treasurer Lois Kaspar gave the treasurer’s report.
