On Saturday, October 25, The La Grange Ministerial Alliance is putting on a day of service for the community. People from local churches are going to gather at the courthouse at 8:40 a.m. to receive assignments and pray. “There will be some breakfast items available. We will then disperse into the community to work on various projects. We hope to help widows, the elderly, single mothers, and others who might have a need. We are also working with local non-profits. County Planning Big 250th Birthday Party for America

It’s a funny word and hard to pronounce, but organizers of Fayette County’s year-long American Semisesquicentennial celebration are hoping people locally become very familiar with it during 2026. Or at least familiar with “America250,” as the official national organization has branded it.

Czech Center Hosts Special Evening

The Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center (TCHCC) hosted a special evening concert of beautiful Czech music at the Sanford Schmid Amphitheater in La Grange on Friday, Sept. 26. Mladá Muzika Šardice, a youth music ensemble from Kyjov in the southern Moravian region of the Czech Republic, entertained the crowd with their lively brass music. They were joined by a dulcimer band, and the two groups traded sets throughout the evening. Before the performance, La Grange Mayor Jan Dockery read a proclamation recognizing La Grange native and reigning Miss U.S. Czech-Slovak Queen Madelyn Karstedt. They were joined on stage by Karstedt’s sister, Lille Karstedt, the Texas Czech-Slovak Princess.
