LG Students Advance in Fire Prevention Poster Contest

The La Grange Volunteer Fire Department recently sponsored the annual fire prevention poster contest at La Grange Elementary and Sacred Heart School in La Grange. They presented awards to the winners on Oct. 16 and 17. The top three winners from each age division advanced to the county-wide contest, judged by representatives from the Fayette County Firefighters Association. County-wide winners will advance to the Guadalupe District of the Texas Firefighters and Fire Marshals Association.

Sacred Heart Altar Society Meets Oct. 6

The Sacred HeartAltar Society members met on Monday, Oct. 6, in the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewicz Parish Center. The meeting was opened with a prayer followed by the standard reports provided by the treasurer, secretary and assistant treasurer. One card of thanks was read to members in appreciation for remembrances received. Sixteen ladies attended the meeting.

County-Wide Feral Hog Contest Aims to Protect Local Agriculture

The county-wide feral hog contest is being held to give landowners, producers, and sportsmen an opportunity to control feral hogs in Fayette Co. The feral hog population causes economic losses to Fayette County Agriculture producers through crop destruction, pasture and livestock losses, and environmental damage. The winter Contest begins on Nov. 1, and ends January 5, 2026. Prize money will be awarded to the individuals who officially enters the most feral hogs during the contest. Fayette Co. Commissioner’s Court, Fayette County Farm Bureau, and an Anonymous Donor are providing premium money in the following amounts: 1st $250, 2nd $200, 3rd $175, 4th $150, 5th $125, 6th $100, 7th $75, 8th $50, 9th $50, and 10th $25. The contest will conclude at noon on Jan. 5, 2026.
