Smith-McMillan Chapter, DAR Honors Good Citizens Award Winners at Presidents Day Tea

The Smith-McMillan Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution honored the school winners of the Good Citizens Award at the annual Presidents Day Tea at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15. The ceremony was held at the home of Jeanne Schilling in Fayetteville with parents and guests joining the members for this occasion. Regent, Carolyn Caflisch and Chaplain, Sherry Hebert led the Chapter in the DAR Ritual and after Pledges to the U. S. and Texas Flags, Sherry Hebert accompanied the singing of the National Anthem on the violin.

16 Leps Advance to State Solo and Ensemble Contest

UIL Region Solo & Ensemble took place on Saturday, February 21st at Smithville High School. In this type of event, students perform a piece of music either as a soloist with piano accompaniment, or with a small ensemble where each member has their own unique part to contribute.

KJZT Family Life Holds Social

On Feb. 16, the first quarterly social of KJZT Family Life, Society No. 31 St. Frances of Rome of La Grange was held at 4:30 p.m. in the Immaculate Heart Room at Sacred Heart Church. President Elizabeth Kallus led opening prayers that included prayers for deceased members Marie Morrey and Pauline Epps.

Hundreds Gather for Happy Days Sock Hop in Schulenburg

Approximately 200 community members gathered on Saturday, Feb. 7, for the Happy Days Sock Hop, a free, family-friendly event made possible through the collaboration of 10 area nonprofits and local businesses. The event brought music, dancing, and meaningful connection to the community at Schulenburg Hall.
