WELCA Donates to Feed the Need
News
Martin Luther Lutheran Church Women of the ELCA of Carmine, hosted the Western Cluster Fall Gathering on Saturday, Sept. 27, at MLLC Fellowship Hall. A delicious brunch was provided by the women and was enjoyed by almost forty people attending. The theme was “Feed the Need” and the theme verse was John 13: 34-35.
Cathy Gau, Western Cluster coordinator, opened the gathering. Leonita Sanders welcomed all and gave the opening prayer. The devotion was given by Pastor John David Nedbalek based on the theme verse: “I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love another. By this, everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35. Hymns were sung during the gathering with Nancy Eilers serving as pianist.
Leonita introduced the program, Feed the Need, and the speakers, Dr. Jeremy Finch of La Grange, coordinator of Feed the Need Missions, and Leah Wolff of Lincoln, an enthusiastic volunteer, who gave an informative and inspirational presentation. This program is so much more than serving burgers. Feed the Need is dedicated to feeding people both physically and spiritually. In sharing meals, relationships can be built which transform lives. Each week, communities can be brought together, providing hot meals, support, and the love of Christ to those in need.
On Mondays at the Fayette County Courthouse square in La Grange, burgers are served at 6:30 p.m. An offering of $1,175 was given to Feed the Need Missions for their worthwhile mission to spread the love of Jesus to our communities through a hot meal.
Cathy presided over the business meeting. Becky Collins, Western Cluster communicator, did the roll call of churches and read the Spring 2025 Gathering’s previous minutes. A mission report was given by Kathy Schatte, Western Cluster Mission Coordinator. The gathering closed with prayer by Cathy Gau.
