Stray Gathering Cowboy Church Hosting Sunday Vittles Aug. 31

The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church is gearing up once again to have “Sunday Vittles” on Sunday, Aug. 31. They are hosting Jackie Cox as their special guest for the day. Jackie will be bringing his music and the word for that Sunday. He is an award-winning singer/ songwriter. Here is a chance to enjoy some wonderful music, hear a great sermon and then dig into some delicious food. It is a pot luck dinner, so bring along your favorite dish to share and then get a chance to sample everyone else’s dishes to see what you might like to try back home yourself. Fellowship on Sunday mornings begins at 9:30 a.m. with coffee and sweet treats followed by worship at 10 a.m.

The SG2C is also in the process of getting organized for the Fall Round Up. Mark your calendars for Saturday, Oct. 4 to come out and enjoy a family friendly time. Currently plans are for a photo booth, a bounce house, along with all kinds of other fun games. There also is a chance to win a heifer calf in the raffle. Chances are only $20 for tickets to win this nice heifer. Tickets are available from church members.

The ladies Bible study, Sweet Tea & Scripture is going on Thursday nights at 6:30 p.m. at SG2C in downtown Muldoon. Any area ladies who would like to join in can do so anytime.

Shredding Happening 

A welcome sight in the Muldoon area were the contract mowers for the Texas Department of Transportation. Shedders came through the area mowing down some of the high summer grasses along the roadside. This not only will help with seeing the wildlife along the road, but also with prevention of ride side fires.

Out and About 

Billy and Nancie Blair drove into Houston for the retirement party for their pastor Jim John GianAntonio at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church. They enjoyed a wonderful evening with a spaghetti dinner along with some delicious cakes and cookies. It was a wonderful celebration with many accolades for Pastor Jim. After the party Billy and Nancie picked up great granddaughter Cadence and were join in Muldoon by their daughter Valarie Schick to spend the weekend. The girls enjoyed a spa day together before going back to Houston on Sunday to hear Pastor Jim’s final sermon.

Dana and Darrell Kulak slipped off for some fun with their daughter Cynthia Kulak. They drove up to the Fort Worth area to pick Cynthia up. While there they got to visit with grandson Henry Kulak and his parents Miko and Elton Kulak. Then drive on to Memphis, Tennessee for Cynthia’s class. Cynthia works for the Fort Worth Zoo with the bears and attended “Bear Camp.” Meanwhile Dana and Darrell got to tour around the Memphis area. After a week of “Bear Camp” the trio came back to Fort Worth and Dana and Darrell got another visit with Henry before heading home.

While Dana and Darrell Kulak were traveling Dana’s dad, Devon Boehnke enjoyed having lots of friends come and check in on him and take him out for a meal or two. He had fun just getting to see some friends he had not seen a in while and just visit.

Concert 

Local music minister Martin Cherry Jr was one of the directors of the Singing Men of Texas. He helped conduct a concert at the River Bend Church in Austin on Friday, Aug. 15. The Singing Men of Texas choir consisted of three hundred sixty members who were accompanied by an orchestra for the concert. The members were from all over Texas.The organization is made up of music ministers from all over Texas. The choir were celebrating their 50th anniversary of singing as an organization.

Martin is the music minister at Flatonia Baptist Church. He has been the conductor of the Singing Men of South Texas for the past few years and leading the men in concerts around the South Texas area. The Singing Men of South Texas consist of consists of music ministers from the South Texas area.

Darling Obituary 

Bruce Darling passed away Aug. 16 in Jacksonville, Florida. Bruce was the son of Muldoon natives Ruth (Ivy) and Herman Darling. Bruce grew up in Smithville and spent many hours in Muldoon with his dad on the hog farm and with his Ivy Grandparents.

Bruce is survived by his children RuthAnne Darling Wyble and husband Steven; son Brad Darling and wife Debbie; and daughter Amy Darling; along with three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Also surviving is his brother Larry Darling.

A graveside service and celebration of life will be held Jan. 17 in Pitman Cemetery in Muldoon.
