Senior Connections Plans For Exciting September
As we approach Labor Day on Sept. 1, please note that we will be closed on Monday to allow everyone to enjoy this special day.
Senior Connections warmly invites all seniors aged 55 and up from Fayette, Colorado, and Lavaca counties to our activity centers in Schulenburg, Weimar, and Flatonia. Remember, our membership is free and serves delicious meals you will not want to miss.
On Sept. 2, we will gather at the Weimar First United Methodist Church for a funfilled day starting at 9 a.m. Enjoy coffee, conversation, and some friendly competition with dominoes. We appreciate our members bringing bingo prizes to share, adding to the excitement of our afternoon game.
This day promises a delightful feast featuring Amanda’s lasagna, a garden-fresh salad topped with seasonal fruit, garlic bread, and mouthwatering desserts prepared by our members. We are also excited to welcome Josh Jones from the Weimar Police Department, who will introduce a new program called “Are You OK?” This valuable service offers daily check-ins for participants to ensure their well-being. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn how you or a loved one can sign up.
Following Josh’s talk, the wonderful Anne Frye from First Texas Home Health will lead us through our bingo game. Thank you to her for traveling from Katy, to be with us.
On Sept. 3, our Schulenburg center will be buzzing with activity. After an engag-ing morning filled with games like dominoes, puzzles, tarot cards, and sequence, we will feast on chicken-fried steak and gravy from Oakridge Smokehouse. Our volunteers will create a delicious, buttered potato side dish and our famous salad, with desserts again generously provided by our members.
We are thrilled to announce that Fayette Savings Bank will call our bingo game. Bubba O is great at combining various games for an exciting, challenging experience.
September also marks the beginning of new classes at Arts for Rural Texas on Friday, Sept. 5. Martha Beckmann’s seasonal crafts class or my new mosaic class are currently full. If you have signed up but cannot attend, please let us know so others can join.
Please mark your calendars for our September adventure on Sept. 20. We will take a trip to Victoria to explore the Victoria Educational Gardens, the Contemporary Art Museum showcasing art cars, and the Museum of the Coastal Bend. We will also enjoy a delicious Chinese lunch. A sign-up sheet is available, so please call the center at (979) 743-3227 to reserve your spot and for any other information on our activities.
