Senior Connections is much more than just a meal program; it’s a hub for social interaction, education, and creativity.

Join Senior Connections for our biggest fundraiser of the year, the New Year’s Eve Heritage Ball at Freyburg Hall. During this fabulous event, we will unveil our capital campaign to fund the construction of our new building. Exciting times are ahead. Visit our website for more information.

On Jan. 22, we will be going to Roberts Steakhouse in Flatonia for lunch, and then to the Lyric Theater for a movie TBD. We may even visit Terry’s ice-cream parlor after the movie. Sign up sheets will be available at all locations for members to add their names to. Call the center if you can’t make it in to sign up.

The schedule at all locations is the same, with doors open from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., volunteers will welcome members and visitors with smiles and warm beverages. Here’s a glimpse of activities: On Tuesday, Dec. 16, join us in Weimar at First United Methodist Church, 301 West St. Charles for morning health check: blood pressure checks by nurses from True Care Living in Columbus. Menu for the day includes Amanda’s famous meatloaf, twice-baked potatoes, green bean casserole, and member-made desserts.

Mary Hairell from Mary’s Pool Service will join for a Lunch and Learn followed by bingo with Niesha from True Care Living.

Join on Wednesday, Dec. 17 in Schulenberg at 1111 BohlmannAve. Menu features urkey and biscuit casserole, mashed potatoes, salad, and desserts by members.

All campus members born in December, join by 11 a.m. for a photo with a special birthday cake, followed by a lively bingo game with Jeffrey from Shiner Nursing and Rehabilitation.

On Friday, Dec. 19, join Arts for Rural Texas at 1206 Lyons Ave. for Artful Friday Classes. Today is the final class of the month, and year. We will be wrapping up projects from Susan Groom’s acrylic painting class and the mosaic classes with me, Steph Shroyer. A light lunch is served after class.

Our 2026 class Artful Friday schedule is now available on the website. Sign up by calling the center at (979) 743-3227. Space is limited to 10 students per class. We have some new and exciting offerings and a few new instructors, too. We have January through May forms ready for registration.

We invite everyone to experience the warmth and camaraderie at Senior Connections. Whether it’s for a delicious meal, a game of dominoes, or engaging in art, there’s something for everyone in our family.

As we say goodbye to 2025 soon and enter 2026, let’s celebrate our achievements and look forward to a future filled with growth, connection, and joy.
