Senior Connections is excited to welcome both new and returning members to our vibrant gathering places for active seniors in Fayette, Colorado, and Lavaca counties.
Our doors open at 9 a.m. and remain open until 2 p.m. welcoming seniors to enjoy a morning filled with lively games such as 42, Moon, Mexican Train, and various card games, along with hot coffee and engaging conversation.
Join Monday, Nov. 10 at 1111 Bohlmann Avenue in Schulenburg in Wolters Park. Volunteers will greet you with a smile and a cup of coffee. Additionally, nurses from Kocurek Clinic will be on-site to check your blood pressure.
A hearty bowl of picnic stew from Koopmann Catering, served with buttered noodles, fresh carrots, and delicious member-made desserts, is on the menu. Following this delightful meal, our Lunch and Learn program features Robert Slack and Valeria Rios from the Area on Aging, who will discuss dementia and support resources. After lunch, Naisha from True Care Living will call our highly anticipated Bingo game.
On Veterans Day, Tuesday, Nov. 11, we gather at the Flatonia Methodist Church in Newman Hall. Start your day with Tai Chi exercises at 9:45 a.m. For lunch, enjoy a classic meatloaf with buttered potatoes and salad, accompanied by desserts from our members. Larry Haas from the Flatonia Food Pantry will provide insights during our Lunch and Learn, addressing the crucial topic of food assistance, which is particularly important given the government cuts that are happening. Haley from Crown Hospice will then lead our Bingo game at 12:30 p.m.
A special Thanksgiving feast awaits us at KC Hall in Schulenburg on Wednesday, Nov. 12. Doors open at 9 a.m. for our usual morning games and opportunities to win prizes. To cap off the day, enjoy music from Vic Rodriguez until 2 p.m.
