Senior Connections Bringing Seniors Together
At Senior Connections, our mission is clear: to enhance the quality of life for active seniors through camaraderie, exciting activities, and delicious meals. We invite you to join for a series of engaging events this week that promise to bring joy and connection to our vibrant community. Doors are open from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. on program days.
On Monday, Aug. 11, we kick off the day in Schulenburg with complimentary blood pressure checks provided by Dr. Kocurek’s clinic from 10-11 a.m. Afterward, prepare your taste buds for a mouthwatering meal from Oakridge Smokehouse, including hamburger steak and gravy, served with buttered potatoes, fresh vegetables, and a delightful dessert crafted by one of our talented members at 11:20 a.m.
The Lunch and Learn program will feature Ralph Fisher, the Armadillo Wrangler, at noon. I first met this character in the days of O’Quinn Country Store and the infamous armadillo races he put on there. His presentation is sure to be entertaining and insightful. Afterward, at 12:30 p.m., Sandy Anderson from True Care Living will host a funfilled bingo game.
The festivities continue on Aug. 12 in Flatonia at the Flatonia Methodist Church at 403 E. North Main St. From 9-11:15 a.m. enjoy games, coffee, and engaging conversations. Amanda has prepared a home-baked ziti with Greek salad and garlic bread, and a dessert from one of our members will be served at 11:20 a.m.
At noon, author Vaughan Ohlman and his wife, Mary, will lead a Lunch and Learn program on homesteading, writing, and country living. Bingo will follow at 12:30 p.m. hosted by Joshua Lovejoy from Crown Hospice.
We return to Schulenburg at 1111 Bohlmann Ave. in Walters Park on Wednesday, Aug. 13, where the morning will kick off with games, camaraderie, and coffee from 9-11:15 a.m. At 11:30 a.m. enjoy a delicious fried fish lunch with hushpuppies, coleslaw, and mac and cheese prepared by Oak Ridge Smokehouse, complemented by a dessert from one of our members.
From 12-2 p.m. the excitement continues with bingo led by Chayla P. and Wellsential Nursing facilities from Hallettsville.
We will host art classes at Arts for Rural Texas, 1206 Lyons Ave., Schulenburg, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. on Friday.
