Scouts Clean Out the Old “Drunk Tank” for Exhibit
“The “Drunk Tank” at the Old Fayette County Jail had been a place for intoxicated locals to “sleep it off” before seeing the Judge (or in some cases simply being released the next day, since sleeping on straw with no A/C or heat was probably enough to teach them a lesson). Since the Jail’s closing, it had become a storage unit for similarly unwanted materials and waste. Last Saturday, Scout Troop 204 of La Grange cleaned out the Drunk Tank. Five truckloads of materials and goods were transported to Second Chance Emporium for redistribution. The Texas Heroes Museum can now decorate the Drunk Tank to be a future exhibit for the Museum.
