Schulenburg High School Class of 1970 Reunites
The Schulenburg High School Class of 1970 classmates and friends gathered to celebrate 55 years since graduating. The event was held at the High Hill Pavilion on Saturday, Aug. 2.
The group enjoyed sharing memories and renewing friendships. The afternoon included delicious food, music of the 1960s and 70s, door prizes, and lots of fun and hugs for everyone. The evening ended with construction of the SHS Class of 1970 awardwinning parade float “Those Were The Days.”
Forty-five classmates graduated together in 1970. Twenty-one were at the gathering.
Sixteen graduates attended all 12 years of school together. Of those 16, ten were at the reunion: Andy Bosl, Donnie Bretting, Darlene (Graf) Quiring, Elgin Kristinik, Sheldon Lippman, Shirley (Hranicky) Wick, Barbara (Kahanek) Mathis, Murlene (Redding) Simper, Violet (Sommer) Hollas, and Hank Stavinoha.
Those fondly remem-bered were deceased graduates Robert Besetsny, Lloyd Gabler, Alan Hepner, Helen (Korenek) Krenek, Edwin Orsak, Larry Schwenke, Daniel Simek, and class sponsor, Mrs. Evelyn Nix.
