The BLC ladies of Ruth Circle met July 10 at 9:30 a.m. Refreshments were served by Joys Baird. The ladies present included Joys, Jeanette Schoenst, Julie Wantland, Pearlie Wagner, Maydelle Copeland, and Sherry Pennington. A bible study lesson titled “Relationships that Sustain Us” was led by Pastor John David Nedbalek. Discussion focused on the ways to care for friends and loved ones during times of grief, loss, or tragedy. Grief is an experience that needs support rather than a problem to be solved. To be a holy friend, one should refrain from trying to fix the grieving friends’ pain. “It seems counterintuitive, but the way to truly be helpful to someone in pain is to let them have their pain. Let them share the reality of how much this hurts and how hard this is, without jumping in to clean it up, make it smaller, or make it go away.” Instead, listen deeply, accompany a grieving friend through their pain, and walk alongside them with support, patience, care, love, and compassion. Submitted by Sherry Pennington.
