Round Top-Carmine VFW Essay Contest Winners Announced
The winners have been announced for the Round Top-Carmine school’s VFW Patriot’s Pen and Voice of Democracy essay contest.
They are Patriot’s Pen-Lylah Robertson, First place; Teague Weinert, Second place; and Angela Soto, Third place; Voice of Democracy-Brooke McCoy, First Place; Avery Lamson, Second place; and Lawrence Castillo, Third place; and Mrs. Venghaus, VFW Post 5254 Teacher of the Year.

Round Top-Carmine varsity boys’ and girls’ basketball teams host Calvert on Jan. 2 at 5 p.m. JV and varsity boys host Hallettsville Sacred Heart on Jan. 6 also at 5 p.m.
Students are on break for the Christmas/Winter holidays. Classes resume on Jan. 7. Teachers have a workday on Jan. 6.
Carmine Lions Club
The Carmine Lions Club will have its regular meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 13, at Windmill Ranch Lodge beginning at 6 p.m. All are welcome.
Small School, Big Hearts The Round Top-Carmine Education Foundation presents its annual “Small School, Big Hearts Celebration” on Saturday, Feb. 7.
There are four levels of event sponsorships. The gold level is $1,000 (eight dinner tickets); black level is $750 (six dinner tickets); white level is $500 (four dinner tickets); and red level is $250 (two dinner tickets). The gold, black, and white levels also include drink tickets, reserved seating, verbal recognition at the event; social media acknowledgement; dessert by Royer’s Pie Haven; and art by an art student. The red level includes drink tickets, reserved seating, and social media acknowledgment.
Individual tickets will also be available for purchase at the local schools and banks, and at Round Top Mercantile. The meal will be served from 5-6 p.m. If you have any questions, call (979) 249-7183. Doors open at 4:30 p.m.
There will be a silent auction beginning the week before the event and a live auction at the celebration.

Rebekah Group
The Rebekah Group of Martin Luther Lutheran Church met on Dec. 11, 2025 in the Fellowship Hall at 12 noon. The eight persons present were Susan Ray, Joann Ullrich, Joys Baird, Sharon Rhome, Dianna Gerland, Nancy Eilers, Loydine Mays, and Sedalia Ullrich.
Delicious dishes were brought by all present for the noon meal.
Susan Ray led the Bible study with an Advent Devotional. Nancy Eilers then played arrangements of Christmas songs on the piano. A thank-you card was read from the Rainbow Room for the $500 donation sent there.
Quilting was on Dec. 8 for Lutheran World Relief.
Sedalia Ullrich mailed Christmas cards, and Joys Baird included the yearbooks with them, to shut-ins.
Sedalia also visited with, and brought MLLC members who are residing at nursing homes or assisted living facilities, a cookie tin and poinsettia.
The WELCA yearbooks were printed at the UPS store in Brenham.
Thank-you was extended to JoLynn Schoenberg for decorating the Christmas tree in the Fellowship Hall. Also, thanks to Joys and JoLynn who provide seasonal wreaths for outside doors at the sanctuary, Fellowship Hall, and Mission and Ministry Building.
Happy Birthday was sung for the December birthday celebrants, Jocie Jacob Braun and Joys Baird.
Joys Baird gave the Offering Meditation.
The meeting adjourned with the Lord’s Prayer.
Recyling Trailers
The recycling trailers will be at the Carmine Hall on Friday, Jan. 2 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. This special day and time have been added because both Christmas and New Year’s days are on Thursdays this year.

Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m.
Worship service with Holy Communion, observing the Epiphany of our Lord, is at 10 a.m. The Rev. Bonnie Parker will serve as the guest pastor.

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot and Museum is open on the second Friday and Saturday of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. It is located at 248 E Sylvan, Carmine, TX 78932, which is on the south side of Hwy. 290.
