Plenty to Celebrate in St. John

The St. John Picnic won Best Church Picnic in the Fayette County Record’s Readers Choice Awards. We tried to deliver the award during the picnic on July 4, but picnic co-chairmen Harold Kalich and Gary McBride (pictured above) were so busy that day managing the event. The Record finally caught up with them last Friday. Kalich and McBride reported that the picnic meal sold about 4,400 plates. They said the auction brought in an estimated $98,000. “It was a great year and a great crowd,” McBride said.
