Fayette County EMS Lt. Bradley Wunderlich recently graduated from paramedic school thanks to some financial assistance from two local organizations.

Fayette County Commissioners Court recognized Colorado Valley Communications (CVC) and La Grange Rotary Club for assisting Wunderlich with his education costs.

Fayette County EMS Director Josh Vandever said Wunderlich had the misfortune of enrolling in paramedic school just before the Texas Legislature passed Senate Bill 8. The new law provides funding for students in paramedic school.

“He registered for paramedic school a month before the state started paying for it,” Vandever said at the Commissioners Court meeting last Thursday, June 13. “However, as we’ve done two times before with two other students in the same situation, we partnered with some wonderful local groups – Colorado Valley Communications and Rotary Club of La Grange. Bradley is virtually going to get his whole tuition reimbursed to him by these two organizations. There are zero tax dollars involved here. We’re able to free someone from student debt and bolster local employees staying at our service.”

Hannah Janda of La Grange Rotary Club said her organization is committed to giving back to the community.

“We’re really fortunate to have the support of our community,” she said.

CVC Chief Operations Manager Kelly Allison said his organization is likewise committed to supporting local first responders.

“As we put more broadband (internet) into this community, this is a way for us to support infrastructure,” he said. “EMS is part of the infrastructure.”

The Commissioners Court thanked the two organizations for their support.
