La Grange Mayor Jan Dockery signed a proclamation last week designating Oct. 19 as Catholic Daughters of the Americas Day in La Grange.

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas was instituted as an organization in 1903 for women with the purpose of growing in spirituality and working in faithful service and love for God. Since its beginning, the Catholic Daughters have consistently and unselfishly used their God given talents and time to work for quality of life and defense of humanity. Catholic Daughters have worked for social justice and show compassion for those in our parishes, community, nation, and world who are vulnerable, homeless, voiceless, and most in need. Furthermore, Catholic Daughters participate in the March for Life, pray and work effortlessly to defend the right to Life at all stages from conception to natural death as designed by God’s creation.

Sunday, October 19, 2025, has been designated by the National Board of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas as Catholic Daughter Sunday.

The Mission of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas is to embrace the principle of working through love in the promotion of justice, equality, and the advancement of human rights and human dignity for all. Our Motto is Unity and Charity, and our two-fold Purpose is Spirituality and Service.

The integration of spirituality and service is the foundation of the Catholic Daughters. CDA helps women develop their spirituality and provides avenues of service to live out that spirituality. The CDA gives members a unique opportunity to share their faith with other Catholic women.

Helping others through charitable acts in the spirit of Jesus Christ is the heart of our organization. “Spirituality and Service” is the heart and soul foundation of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas Circle of Love Program encircle and provide for these seven areas of need: Education, Family, Leadership, Legislation, Quality of Life, Spiritual Enhancement, and Youth.
