Ladies Enjoy Quilt Retreat
MULDOON News
The Wednesday morning sewing group at Flatonia Baptist Church took off to finish the big project they have been working on with my help. Nancie Blair and I along with Tricia Griste and Marian Tajchman all traveled to Corpus Christi to enjoy a few days of sewing fun at Kim Bonewald’s beach house. The group was working on the large version of By Annie’s “Two Big Totes.” The group finished up the bags with just a little help and were very proud of their efforts. The bags were all beautiful.
During our stay we did go out and try a number of great seafood places and enjoyed lots of shrimp and fish. It was a very fun and relaxing stay as we all enjoyed the pool and hot tub after a long day of sewing.
Rain in Area
The Muldoon area was blessed with rain. Anywhere from just over an inch to two inches fell in parts of the Muldoon area. It all depended on where under the big cloud you were. With the rain came some lighting and winds. This was a wonderful end of August blessing of moisture. August is always hot and dry, and this rain helped perk up the grass and bring down the temperatures a little.
Out and About
Roberta Gullick enjoyed a visit from her brother, Roger Mitchell and his son-in-law Vince from Oklahoma. Roger an Vince helped Roberta with some house repairs. Mike Castro was able to repair two major water leaks she had on her main water line. They also got to celebrate great granddaughter Juliet’s 7th birthday with a little party. Juliet’s Aunt KK and Uncle Mike had the pool ready for fun and her mom and Jerry provided her favorite foods and a delicious birthday cake for the celebration. There were around thirty- two family and friends in attendance.
Lane Rightmer came in for a visit this past week from Waco. Her parents took advantage of her visit to put her to work helping around the ranch.
Church News
The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church is alive and active in the community. They not only are holding Sunday services that start at 10 a.m., but they also are offering a ladies Bible Study group, Sweet Tea & Scripture on Thursday evenings beginning at 6:30 p.m. Area ladies are invited to come on any Thursday evening to join in and learn more about the scripture. The lessons are interesting and very informative, so ladies, stop in any Thursday for a fill up and Biblical support for the week.
SG2C has hay for sale. They baled on the land they acquired off Valenta Road and FM 609 and made forty bales. All proceeds from the sale of the hay will go into the building fund. For more information, please contact Pastor Butch, Tommy or just come to church and ask.
SG2C is also busy gearing up for the Fall Round Up coming up fast on Saturday Oct. 4. Plans are including a bounce house and lots of fun games for all ages, including a Dessert Wheel. Also on the books are a fall photo booth, a 50/50 raffle, music and a silent auction. If you would like to help, contact Chris at (979) 7020715. If you would like to donate to either auction, silent or live, contact Lee at (512) 6292114 or Pat at (512) 332-6396. Also going on is the raffle for a Hereford Cross heifer born January of 2025. Chances for the nice heifer calf are $20. Contact any church member for tickets. All funds will help pay for the land purchase. This is sounding like a great time in “downtown Muldoon,” so mark your calendars and make plans to come out and bring the kids.
