KJZT Family Life Holds Social
On Feb. 16, the first quarterly social of KJZT Family Life, Society No. 31 St. Frances of Rome of La Grange was held at 4:30 p.m. in the Immaculate Heart Room at Sacred Heart Church. President Elizabeth Kallus led opening prayers that included prayers for deceased members Marie Morrey and Pauline Epps.
Pledges to the U.S. and Texas flags were recited, reading of the minutes was dispensed, Treasurer Barbara Eilert filed her report, and bills were approved for payment.
Secretary Marilyn Kothmann read several thank you notes and KJZT State Office correspondence that included KJZT Family Fun Day will be June 7 at Splashway Waterpark in Sheridan; and there are several new KJZT items for sale through the State KJZT office.
KJZT Clerical Endowment Fund enrollments report by Vice President Nicole Vasut showed four birthdays and three sympathies by Society No. 31, and thirty-three enrollments by individuals. Cheer cards were sent to three members; and a Mass will be said for the intention of each of the deceased members. Kallus gave the publicity and KJZT Traveling Unity Rosary reports.
Unfinished business: Society No. 31 took part in Catholic Schools week on Jan. 28 by presenting goody bags to the faculty and staff of Sacred Heart Catholic School in La Grange. On the same day, the $2,500 KJZT State Convention gift was presented to Sacred Heart Catholic School by officers of Society No. 31 and Society No. 23 and the District V State Director. The Sacred Heart School Spring Festival will be held Saturday, May 9, and Society No. 31 will sponsor the plant wheel game.
New business: The annual feast day Mass for the intention of Society No. 31 will be at 5 p.m., Saturday, March 14, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Feeding Families Across Texas donation will benefit the AMEN food pantry. The Flag Day proclamation signing will take place for the Marshall Program. The KJZT District V Annual Social will be held July 12 at Robert’s Steakhouse, hosted by the Cistern Society.
District V State Director Joy Kovar sent a message thanking membership for their continued support and hard work for Society No. 31 and the KJZT Family Life fraternal.
Attendance prize was won by Elizabeth Kallus and the Memorare was the closing prayer. The next quarterly social will be held May 18.
